One of the quickest, low cost ways to acquire great
content for your website is to hire freelancers who
have a general knowledge of the industry your
website is based on to write it. Freelancers can
easily be found through many websites located on the
World Wide Web. However, not all freelancers are
created equal, so you will need to take care of who
you actually hire to write for you. Unfortunately, I
learned this the hard way so you do not have to.
One of the main concerns when
purchasing anything on the internet including work
done be freelancing services is fraud. And even the
best sounding freelancer could quickly become a
major headache. For instance, I recently hired a
freelancer who was ranked high on the “Top Rated
User” list of the freelancer site; who is a
published author of two books on the international
market; worked at the White House during the Reagan
administration, and is public speaker.
Sounded like someone I should have
been able to trust... right? Wrong, I lost almost
$800 to this Fraudulent Freelancer, so always make
sure you use an escrow service or wait until you
have your completed product in your hands. All
reputable freelancer sites have escrow accounts
available for the buyer’s safety. I highly recommend
using it, even if and especially if the freelancer
offers a discount for paying via PayPal or other
online payment options. Most payment sites will not
help if you are paying for something described as a
“Service” and can rarely help when paying for
“Goods”.
With all of this being said, and the
negative side of the freelancer business exposed you
can rest assured there are ways to get by all of the
negative aspects of hiring a freelancer to produce
great content for your site. It is fast, cheap and
best of all leaves your time open to do the other
important things a webmaster does… like getting more
content of course.
