A Domain Name is an important part of your website.
But is it the most important part of your
investment? I think it is at least ranked up there
with content. Take LoopNet.com as an example. It is
a website which lists tons of properties and
businesses for sale. The domain name does not have
any key words to indicate it would be an Investor's
Website but it is well rated in all of the major
search engines because of the content and the search
engine friendly website.
This lets me know that content is king on the World
Wide Web, however I would be willing to bet it would
have taken a lot less in advertising dollars to
accomplish such a high ranking on many key phrases
if the Domain Name was better suited to the content.
A domain name like InvestmentPropertiesforSale.com
would have likely cut their advertising costs in
half.
So if this is true about the domain name, would it
not be best to spend a couple hundred or a few
thousand dollars on a great domain name if it could
potentially save you several thousand dollars in
advertising dollars? It would definitely make a
difference in the bottom line. For the serious
Internet Real-Estate Investors a great premium
domain name is worth more than the business concept
itself
